Peter Spadafore

Peter will continue to be a strong leader for equality in Lansing!


Peter Spadafore was elected to the Lansing City Council in November of 2017.

Peter is a graduate of James Madison College at Michigan State University where he studied social relations and policy with an emphasis on education policy and homeland security studies and was awarded the Distinguished Young Alumni Award from the Michigan State University Alumni Association. He was also a fellow in the prestigious Michigan Political Leadership Program fellowship and named one of Lansing’s 10 over the Next Ten for 2013.

In 2011 Peter was elected to the Lansing School District Board of Education where he quickly rose to the presidency, serving three consecutive terms and working to shepherd the district’s strategic plan and $120 million bond project to passage. Peter works as associate executive director for the Michigan Association of School Administrators (MASA) where he directs MASA’s state and federal relations efforts.

Peter is a fourth generation resident of Lansing with deep roots in our community. He and his husband were married in the Capital City in 2016 and have a strong commitment to making Lansing a great place to live, work and raise a family.
