Stephen will bring important representation to the Atlanta Public Schools Board of Education!
Stephen Spring is both a long-time educator and a public servant. In his three decades of service to public education, Stephen has worked as a high school mathematics teacher, a district curriculum specialist, a mathematics equity consultant, and now engages Atlanta schools in active and sustainable transportation programming. Through his career, he has focused on ensuring that students receive culturally competent instruction and that the needs exceptional learners are met. His credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education, a Master’s of Science in Educational leadership, certification as a lead facilitator with the National School Reform Faculty, and holds current teacher and administrator certificates. He also is ABD (all-but-dissertation) in a doctoral program with the University of Texas.
Mr. Spring’s political work also spans three decades, having been active in the Washington, DC Act-Up chapter in the late 80’s, serving as an elected member of Portland’s school board from 2003-2006, and now using learning from his PhD coursework in Education Policy to advise local policymakers.
