Biography
Joe Thompson (they/them) is Substance Use Disorder Services Commissioner for Santa Cruz County, and former Starbucks Union Organizer running to represent District 5 in Santa Cruz on the City Council. They have spent the last few years working to protect our local environment with the Sierra Club, advocating for workers and higher wages, and working to build truly affordable housing in the city. Joe grew up in Lincoln, California and moved to Santa Cruz to study politics at the University of California, Santa Cruz.They look forward to serving on the city council and representing all the unique voices throughout the district.
