Wartyna will continue to be a voice for LGBTQ equality on the Bloomfield Town Council
Wartyna “Nina” Davis is a Associate Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at William Paterson University. Before being selected for this position after a nationwide search, she earned the rank of full professor of Political Science and served for seven years as chair of the Political Science department.
She received her bachelors and masters degrees in Political Science from the University of Alabama and Ph.D. in Political Science from Florida State University. In the summer of 2005, she was a visiting professor (professeur de visite distingué ) at the Université Paris VIII. Dr. Davis is an interdisciplinary scholar who has published and presented works on intersectional identity and politics. She has committed her life to researching, educating, and advocating for issues of justice and fairness.
Wartyna is an active member of the Demarest elementary Home and School Association and is actively engaged in her church, First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ. She is a member of the Montclair Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and was selected as a 2011 Leadership New Jersey Fellow.
On the council she has supported initiatives to move the town forward and focused her individual initiatives on community building, inclusive community initiatives and public safety.
She is married with two children at Demarest Elementary school and her hobbies include gardening and golf.
