Zach will be the first openly LGBTQ person elected in District 10 of the Nashville Metro Council
Since 2012, Zach Young has made public service to his community a hallmark of his reputation. A lifelong Goodlettsville resident, Zach has long been involved in organizations and causes in the Goodlettsville area to improve life for residents and businesses.
As a member of the Goodlettsville Board of Commissioners, Zach has been instrumental in increasing staffing levels at the Fire and Police Departments. Most importantly, Zach has worked hard with the leadership of the departments and the city to adjust public safety wages to be competitive with surrounding communities. At a time when Metro Nashville was breaking promises made to its employees, Zach and his colleagues on the Goodlettsville City Commission were giving significant raises to public safety employees.
Zach’s focus on his community does not end with public safety. During his time on the Commission, he has focused on quality of life concerns for the residents of Goodlettsville. Recognizing the drain that payday lenders and other alternative financial institutions bring to an area, Zach proposed an ordinance to curb the spread of payday lenders inside Goodlettsville.
Zach’s vision for serving District 10 includes bringing the fiscal responsibility and focus on employees that he has maintained while on the Goodlettsville City Commission.
