Cesar is a proud openly gay Mexican-American who was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area; East Bay, City of Richmond. At age 20 he was kicked out of his home for being gay. He contemplated suicide, but opted instead to help others that may go through what he went through. He wanted to make sure this world would be better prepared in case one of his nieces or nephews ever came out as anything other than straight.
Cesar volunteers many hours during the week and weekends. His volunteer time is taken up between various volunteer opportunities including helping feed the homeless and those in need, planting trees, community outreach, and community building. He has been on various non-profit boards, including the Lavender Youth Recreation and Information Center in San Francisco.
Cesar co-founded Richmond Rainbow Pride to help empower, provide visibility and advocacy to the LGBT community in the City of Richmond.
