Greg is a lifelong Missourian – the grandson of a farmer, the son of a public school teacher, and a graduate of the University of Missouri. He has lived in every corner of the Show Me State, from a cotton farm near one of its smallest of towns, to the center one of its largest cities. Greg is proud to call Missouri, and Kansas City in particular, home.
Greg has spent his professional career fighting for progressive causes. He has worked on numerous campaigns in Kansas City – from local elections, to working for the Missouri Democratic Party on statewide elections; He served as Policy Director for PROMO, Missouri’s statewide LGBT civil rights organization. During the tumultuous times of the early to mid-2000’s, Greg led the charge to have the first ever Republican members of the General Assembly cosponsor pro-LGBT legislation; and for nearly eight years he has been Deputy Regional Director for U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill. During that time he has built and maintained positive relationships with leaders throughout the conservative northwestern portion of the state, all as an openly gay man.
His passion for progressive issues such as LGBT equality, racial equality, women’s and workers’ rights, coupled with his knowledge of statewide issues – agriculture, infrastructure funding, education, business and labor – will make Greg an effective voice in the Missouri legislature. However, it is his ability to relate to all Missourians - regardless of who they are, who they love, where they live, or their background - that will allow him to change hearts and minds of his fellow legislators.
