Khilynn Fowler, born and raised in Tuscaloosa,Alabama, is a powerful advocate for change and inclusion in the Bay Area, where she has lived for nine years. As a transgender woman, Khilynn understands the challenges faced by marginalized communities and has become a frontline warrior for the LGBTQ community.

Currently, she serves as the first transgender commissioner in Alameda County with the Status of Women, a role that empowers her to lead initiatives focused on equity and inclusion. Previously, Khilynn was the first commissioner for arts and culture in the City of San Leandro, where she spearheaded innovative community projects. One of her notable achievements includes launching a CDC-endorsed program that connects transgender women to essential healthcare services, ensuring they receive the support and resources they deserve.

Khilynn’s intentional leadership style focuses on breaking down barriers and changing societal narratives surrounding transgender women, making this a top priority in her work. Holding a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Alabama A&M University, Khilynn combines her academic background with a passion for public service. She believes that serving her community brings her joy and instills hope that meaningful change is possible.
