Marty has been building and leading strategic grassroots organizing campaigns for over three decades. For fourteen years,  Marty served as National Field Director for the Human Rights Campaign. There he managed a team of organizers whose work included mobilizing support for marriage equality and nondiscrimination protections. Before joining HRC, Marty led MassEquality, the statewide group in Massachusetts that successfully defended marriage equality, making Massachusetts the first marriage equality state in our country.

Marty is also helping to advance global LGBTQ+ political inclusion as a member of the National Democratic Institute’s Equal Voices Advisory Council.

A native New Yorker, Marty now lives in the DC suburbs of North Bethesda, Maryland.
