Mary Jo Hudson (MJ) is a partner with Squire Patton Boggs (US) LLP in Columbus, Ohio.  MJ is a former Insurance Commissioner for the State of Ohio with over 30 years of experience in the practice of law and in insurance regulation, financial services and consumer finance regulation.

MJ has also been active in locally, regionally and nationally, working as a public servant, servant leader and social justice advocate in several offices and board roles.  MJ served in appointed or elected office in Columbus and for the State of Ohio from 2002 until 2018, serving on the Columbus Civil Service Commission (2002-2004), Columbus City Council (2004-2007), on Ohio Governor Ted Strickland’s Cabinet as the Director of the Ohio Department of Insurance (2007-2011) and most recently as a member of the Columbus Board of Education (2014-2018), where she also served as the Chair of the Board’s Audit and Finance Committees.

MJ has served on numerous nonprofit and for-profit boards, including a Fortune 500 company board and on the boards of numerous professional and community associations.  MJ is currently a board member and vice president of the Short North Alliance in Columbus, and as a member of the Amplify Life Insurance Company board of directors.  Nationally, MJ served on the national Boards of Directors and Board of Governors for the Human Rights Campaign, and on the Board of Trustees for the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.  MJ has served as a board member of numerous Columbus-area nonprofits.

MJ and her wife, Dr. Lynn Wallich, live in Columbus, Ohio with their three dogs.
