Vince Pryor is a restaurant consultant based in Houston, TX. Prior to moving to Houston, he opened and managed two successful restaurants in Chicago, IL. Since moving to Houston in 2015, he has been actively engaged in local and state political campaigns, including the campaign to uphold the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO) and serving as campaign chair for a candidate for Harris County Commissioners Court.

In 2016, Vince was elected Treasurer of the Houston GLBT Political Caucus, the oldest civil rights organization in the South dedicated to the advancement of GLBT rights. In this role, he was responsible for ensuring compliance with state and federal financial filing requirements, providing guidance on fundraising and special events, and preparing and disseminating the Caucus’s endorsement card. During his time as treasurer, he led one of the most successful annual fundraising events in Caucus history.

A long time advocate for LGBTQ youth, Vince served as a Founding Member and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for Tony’s Place, a non-profit organization providing resources and shelter to LGBTQ youth who are unstably housed or experiencing homelessness.

Vince received a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Texas Christian University. While at TCU, Vince became one of the first openly gay Division I football players when he came out to his team and coaches during his senior year in 1994. In the final game of his football career, Vince set the school record for the most sacks in one game, a record which stood until 2017. He has participated in the It Gets Better and Br{ache the Silence campaigns, sharing his coming out story to promote equity and inclusion for LGBTQ athletes. In 2012, he was honored with the Atticus Circle Award for Courage by the Austin-based non-profit Atticus Circle, an organization of straight allies dedicated to LGBTQ equality. Vince lives in Houston with his husband, Alan Dettlaff.
