Alex was the first out gay man elected to the Atlanta City Council!
Biography
Alex Wan is the District 6 member of the Atlanta City Council and also currently serves as Assistant Vice President of Community Affairs at Emory University. Alex’s professional experience includes serving in nonprofit executive roles in youth development, higher education, and HIV housing organizations.
Alex previously represented District 6 from 2010-2018 and was re-elected to his current third term in 2021. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Piedmont Park Conservancy and the Atlanta-region Transit Link Authority (ATL) and previously served on the boards of Atlanta Regional Commission, Invest Atlanta, Fulton Board of Registration and Elections (Chair), Leadership DeKalb (Chair), Little Five Points Community Improvement District, Olmsted Linear Park Alliance, and Organization of Chinese Americans GA.
Alex holds a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering degree from Georgia Tech and a Master of Business Administration degree from Wharton Business School.
