Alexis Simmons

Alexis Simmons is an educator running for reelection to the Kansas House of Representatives. Alexis has
a BA in political science from Washburn University and a MA in American Government from American
University, reflecting her deep commitment to understanding the complexities in the American political
system. While in graduate school, Alexis worked at the Women & Politics Institute, publicizing women’s
role in the political process. After graduating and moving home to Kansas, Alexis was the communications director for the Kansas House Democrats from 2021 to 2025. She is an adjunct professor of American Government at her alma mater and substitute teaches in Topeka Public Schools. Alexis is deeply passionate about helping people engage with the government and participate in the democratic process. She’s a robust defender of constitutional rights and believes the government should work for everyone, not just the wealthy.
