Amie would be the first LGBTQ individual to hold the role of Sonoma County Superintendent!
Dr. Amie Carter is passionate about equity and innovation in education. She has over two decades of experience supporting innovation and creating new structures to empower students’ voices. She is committed to ensuring ALL students, particularly those who are historically underserved, have the opportunities, and support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, and in college, career, and life. Amie began her career as a high school English teacher, and she has led several high poverty elementary schools and was the principal of a diverse school for four years. She has served as district assistant superintendent and is currently county assistant superintendent. Amie was raised in Utah with her five brothers and is the mother of five daughters. She is running for office because she believes that there’s never been a better time to reimagine our schools to increase engagement, amplify teacher’s voices, and advance learning for even the hardest-to-reach students.
