Biography
Ashanti Martinez is a public servant, community advocate, and Maryland State Delegate representing District 22 in Prince George’s County. He has built his career around expanding opportunity and protecting people’s dignity through public policy, constituent services, and community engagement. A Howard University alum, Martinez returned home to serve the communities that shaped him and to ensure government works for working families. Over the past several years, he has focused on improving public health outcomes, strengthening economic stability, and supporting safer neighborhoods. His work in the Maryland General Assembly has centered on expanding access to healthcare, protecting consumers, supporting small businesses, and helping families afford housing, education, and everyday necessities. He regularly brings residents directly into the policymaking process through town halls, student programs, and community initiatives. Ashanti believes Maryland is strongest when safety, dignity, and opportunity are available to everyone. He supports quality public schools, accessible and affordable healthcare, and an economy that allows families to build stable lives in the communities they call home.
