Biography

Jeffrey Bernstein is a small business owner and active community member. During his first term on City Council, Jeffrey focused on social justice efforts, ensuring representation for marginalized communities. Jeffrey’s platform includes key goals in preservation, economic development, sustainability, affordable housing, homelessness services, quality of life, and public safety. He has also launched and shepherded large-scale projects, including opening a navigation center, restoring a historic theater, modernizing the convention center and airport, preserving open land, and achieving extensive successes in building affordable housing. Jeffrey has championed the soon-to-be-opened College of the Desert in Palm Springs, providing opportunities to our significantly underserved youth. The focus on arts and culture, as well as emerging tech, is done with the goal of workforce development and providing good, year-round jobs to complement Palm Springs’ tourism economy. He has also advocated for the rights of the disabled community, winning the Champion of the Year from Desert Arc, serving those with learning disabilities. Jeffrey is dedicated to giving back to the community that welcomed him and his husband in 2009.
