Biography
Miles Burnett is a fourth-generation Binghamtonian raised in a Southside union family of police officers, firefighters, nurses, and teachers, which shaped his commitment to community and public service. Before running for Mayor, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff for State Senator Lea Webb, securing millions in funding for the Southern Tier, advancing consumer and environmental protections, and supporting Binghamton’s public schools. He also maintained strong relationships with local leaders to address pressing constituent needs. Previously, he worked for New York City Council Member Andrew Cohen and later led a nonprofit Business Improvement District focused on safety, sanitation, and economic development. During the COVID-19 crisis, he helped secure major relief grants for small businesses. With deep roots in Binghamton and a career devoted to effective, people-centered governance, Miles is ready to expand opportunity, improve infrastructure, and build a more inclusive future for the city.
