Chris would bring representation to Michigan House District 8!
Biography
Chris Gilmer-Hill is a proud lifelong Detroiter, democratic socialist, environmental justice champion, and union member running for MI state representative in district 8. His family has called parts of House District 8 home ever since his Great-Grandma Annabelle moved up to Russell Woods from Monroe, Louisiana. Chris graduated from Harvard with a neuroscience degree in 2022, and he moved back home to work and organize in his home city. He’s now the policy manager at the Michigan Environmental Justice Coalition and a community leader in local and state politics.
Chris is running because he believes a better Michigan is possible. Chris believes in affordability for everyone, and he’ll make life more affordable by taking on DTE and fighting to rein in data centers that raise our rates and drain our water. Chris wants to make real investments in our people and communities, not handouts to billionaires and corporations. He’ll push to end corporate handouts and invest in our neighborhoods. Lastly, Chris wants to make government work for regular people. He’s not taking any money from corporations like DTE, so you can count on him to fight for policies like universal healthcare and childcare, publicly-owned power, and truly affordable housing.
