Christian Phelps

Christian Phelps is an educator, organizer, and journalist from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, representing District 93 in the Wisconsin State Assembly. He has been politically engaged in the fight for the public since before he was old enough to vote, organizing walkouts against former Governor Scott Walker’s attacks on public sector labor unions and public school funding when he was in high school, and going on to work in special education, journalism, and nonprofit advocacy through his 20s. He lives in Eau Claire with his partner, Thomas. In 2024, Christian was elected to the State Assembly, flipping a district that had been held by a Republican for 14 years. He serves on the Assembly Committees on Education and Public Benefit Reform, and is advancing a bold, pro-public agenda in the state legislature, steadfast in his belief that public systems should serve everyone and protect the most marginalized. Christian is Vice-Chair of the Wisconsin Legislative LGBTQ+ Caucus.
