Christine Lewis

Metro Council, District 2

Christine will continue to be a voice for equality on the Metro Council!

Biography

Councilor Christine Lewis (she, her, hers) brings nearly two decades of experience in policy, government, and nonprofit leadership to her work as a Metro Councilor. “I ran for Metro as they were taking their first major steps into housing — I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work on our most pressing issue at a regional scale,” she said. “Every city in our region needs the tools to build housing, so our neighbors can have a safe and stable place to call home.” Currently in her second term, her responsibilities and committee assignments span from housing and transportation to parks and nature, solid waste, and regional cultural venues. She is also passionate about climate resiliency, waste reduction and making sure the voices of everyday people are part of Metro’s decision-making process. In addition to her work as a Metro Councilor, she is executive director of the Portland Urban Debate League. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice, and a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Reed College.
