Christine Lewis

Metro Council, District 2

Christine will continue to be a voice for equality on the Metro Council!

Biography

Christine Lewis (she/her) represents the communities of District 2 – including Gladstone, Johnson City, Lake Oswego, Milwaukie, Happy Valley, Oregon City, Rivergrove, West Linn, and portions of Southwest Portland and unincorporated Clackamas – on Oregon’s Metro Council. Metro is a unique level of local government with jurisdiction in land use and transportation planning, the solid waste system, regional visitor venues, and parks and nature. She has brought a focus on housing and workforce issues to the position and works hard to represent the unique needs of her district, including the area surrounding Willamette Falls.

Christine has a decade of experience in state and local government policy and advocacy roles. Immediately prior to her time on Council, she served as the Legislative Director at the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries. In 2016, she managed the historic housing bond campaign in the City of Portland. She balances her time as an elected official running her own consulting practice, centered on public health, communications, and organizational development.

Christine’s community involvement includes service as member of the Board of Trustees at Reed College, her alma mater, where she earned a B.A. in Anthropology. She is currently on the boards of the Portland Opera, Willamette Falls Trust (Ex Ocio) and the Willamette Falls and Landings Heritage Area Coalition.

She lives with her family in the Willamette neighborhood in West Linn and enjoys walking to nearby parks and pubs.
