Eric Chung

U.S. House of Representatives, MI-10

Eric will be the first out LGBTQ+ Congressman from Michigan!

Biography

Growing up in Macomb and Oakland County, Eric saw firsthand the opportunities and challenges faced by Michigan families. His parents escaped communist Vietnam for the promise of a better life. They found open arms in Michigan, and the opportunity to work hard and create a future for their family. Eric’s father was able to support his family by working at automotive plants in Warren, Sterling Heights, and Shelby Township, and Eric thrived in Michigan public schools. Michigan was hit hard in the 2008 Recession, and Eric’s family was no exception. His dad was laid off from the machine plant in Warren — where he’d worked for 15 years. It was a turning point for Eric. He became a lawyer working at the Commerce Department on the CHIPS and Science Act to bring back jobs and manufacturing for families and communities like his. This included a $325 million investment in Michigan, creating more than 1,000 high-paying manufacturing and construction jobs. But unfortunately, the Trump Administration gutted the program and prioritized reckless tariffs instead. Eric knew he needed to make a change, so he decided to run for Congress in his home community to stand up for Michigan voices and values.
