David will be the second out LGBTQ+ member of the Utah House of Representatives!
Biography
David Chappell is a queer civil engineer and everyday community member running to represent House District 62 in the Utah Legislature. He grew up in Arizona, moved to Provo for college, and chose to stay, putting down roots here with his partner. While at Brigham Young University, David founded Cougar Pride Center, an LGBTQ+ resource center, and has been dedicated to improving the lives of his queer siblings ever since. David knows firsthand what it means to struggle, working his way through BYU while living paycheck to paycheck, in overcrowded housing, skipping meals just to survive. Those experiences made him determined to improve the way for those who come after him. David believes everyone deserves a real shot at thriving, not just surviving. He is committed to housing that people can actually afford, healthcare that doesn’t bankrupt us, and groceries to feed the whole family. David is running because working families, vulnerable people, and everyday Utahns deserve a real voice in the Legislature.
