Miguel will be the first out LGBTQ+ immigrant to ever serve in any elected office in Nevada!
Biography
Miguel Dávila Uzcátegui is a city planner and community leader running to represent District 15 in the Nevada Legislature. Over the past 10 years, Miguel has been an advocate for Nevadans at every level of government: from bringing affordable food to neglected neighborhoods to lowering bus fares for working moms and mapping thousands of empty and underused lots for new housing. Miguel was 14 years old when he and his family moved to Las Vegas from Venezuela. Overcoming transportation, culture, and language barriers became a daily struggle. But just like Miguel was taught to help his neighbors in Venezuela when life got hard, his neighbors in Las Vegas pitched in to help. His partner of 9 years, Jonathan Senda, also leads a life dedicated to service as a mental health therapist. Their lived experiences of mutual aid inspired entire careers focused on building community power. Miguel believes Nevadans are being left behind by leaders who are unwilling to listen. His primary goal is to promote community-centered reinvestment to bring housing, high-paying jobs, and transportation for everyone. A graduate of MIT, Miguel has the needed technical skills to bring his community closer to realizing their shared dream of a better future.
