Biography
Roy is a Communications & Marketing Executive and long-time community servant running for the AtLarge B position on the council for the City of Brownsville, TX. Roy was the first out LGBTQ+ person elected to City Office in the city’s 168-year history in the seat he currently holds as Commissioner for City of Brownsville, District 3. He championed a first-ever Fair Practices (non-discrimination) ordinance, passed in 2022, and through his work as a member of the LGBTQ+ Task Force for the City, and as a member of the City Commission, has helped move the city’s Municipal Equality Index score from 15 in 2019 to 75 in 2024.
