Biography

Winn Decker is a public policy professional and community member running to represent southern Wake Winn Decker is a public policy professional and community member running to represent southern Wake County in the North Carolina House of Representatives. He grew up in rural northwest Tennessee as the son of two public school teachers, where he learned early the value of strong schools, hard work, and public service. More than a decade ago, Winn moved to North Carolina for graduate school, earned his Ph.D. in Public Administration at North Carolina State University, and made Wake County his home. He has spent his career working on education and workforce issues, focused on helping the government better serve families and communities. Winn previously served as Deputy Director for Higher Education at The Hunt Institute, founded by former Governor Jim Hunt, where he worked with leaders across the state to expand access to education. Winn lives in Fuquay-Varina with his fiancé and their two dogs. He is running for office to help families afford to live where they work, support strong public schools, and make sure growing communities have the services they need to thrive.
