Biography
Steve Duble was elected Justice of the Peace in November 2022. Since taking office January 2023, he has taken bold action to increase access to justice. His initiatives include an award-winning grant-funded eviction diversion program and a Legal Resource Center. He earned his undergraduate degree from Texas Christian University in 1986 and his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 1989. He has practiced civil trial law in Houston for over 36 years and has successfully argued appeals in Texas Appellate courts as well as the U.S. 5th Circuit. He is a Member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States. His peers in the legal community have ranked him at the highest level of professional excellence for his legal expertise, communication skills, and ethical standards by granting him an AV Preeminent rating with Martindale-Hubbell. Judge Duble has lived his entire life in Houston, where he raised three incredible children. He and his husband Evan live in the Montrose area. He is the first openly gay JP in Harris County history.
