Biography

George Ferrie is a social worker, community organizer, and former small business owner running for Denton City Council, At-Large Place 5. George moved to Denton in 2005, working in the service industry for over 15 years before becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. As a clinician and housing advocate, George believes we must dismantle systems that fail working people. Their platform centers on a “Worker Centered Economy,” prioritizing local labor standards, union support, and deep housing affordability (30-50% AMI) over developer profits. George’s experience ranges from chairing the Denton Parks Board to leading the Denton Affordable Housing Corporation, where they championed affordable housing development and permanent supportive housing for chronically unhoused neighbors. George is committed to infrastructure-first development, expanding mental health access, and ensuring no budget is balanced on the backs of working families. They are fighting for a Denton where stability and prosperity are shared by all neighbors.
