Nick Hellyar

As a homeowner and small business owner in District C, Nick Hellyar understands challenges facing our neighborhoods – flooding, street repair, public safety, increasing density and traffic, and how to get the most out of the considerable tax dollars we pay. Nick grew up in District C and attended the University of Houston. Nick got his first exposure to public service working as a staff member for a Houston City Councilmember and a member of the Texas Legislature. It was this work — attending civic club meetings, responding to resident requests and helping to deliver neighborhood level projects – that fostered his passion for constituent service and local government. He recently worked in the office of City Councilmember Twila Carter. Nick owns a real estate business – The Hellyar Group – in District C. He focuses on buying and selling residential properties, rental placement, property management and investment. As a business owner, Nick must work within a budget, make payroll and maximize every dollar to be successful. He will bring that same sensibility to City Council. Nick is a member of the Houston Association of Realtors and is a former Vice President and Board Member of the Houston GLBT Political Caucus.
