Jamie McGonnigal

Jamie McGonnigal is a parent, community leader, and candidate for the Prince George’s County Board of Education, District 3. A proud gay dad, Jamie and his husband are raising their child in Prince George’s County Public Schools, where his commitment to strong, inclusive public education comes from lived experience as a parent and school community leader. Jamie serves as President of the Hyattsville Elementary School PTA, working with families, educators, and district leadership to support students, strengthen parent engagement, and address challenges such as transportation reliability and equitable access to resources. He has helped lead community initiatives that bring families together and ensure every student feels supported and valued. Professionally, Jamie has built a career in nonprofit leadership, partnerships, and storytelling, and is also a voice actor in the Pokémon series. He founded TalkAboutEquality.org and Take Back Pride organizing efforts, organized rallies outside the U.S. Supreme Court during the Prop 8 and DOMA cases, and was honored as Volunteer of the Year by Rainbow Families. Jamie is running to help build schools where every student and every family knows they belong.
