Jarrod Schaeffer

Jarrod Schaeffer is a husband, attorney, and community advocate running to serve on Rutherford’s Borough Council. He has spent his career standing up for others and protecting their rights. As a federal prosecutor in the Southern District of New York, he worked to protect the public and hold the powerful accountable by prosecuting corruption, fraud, and other serious crimes. As a private attorney, he represents clients navigating government investigations and complex litigation while maintaining an active pro bono practice focused on safeguarding constitutional and civil rights. Outside the office, Jarrod serves on the Rutherford Civil Rights Commission and coaches youth soccer. He believes strongly that every person is entitled to effective, responsive, and transparent government—and to representatives who serve the public with integrity. And he recognizes that it matters deeply for people to see someone like them in government, both to encourage them to pursue public service themselves and to foster trust that their representatives will support and stand up for them. Jarrod is committed to being that voice and to ensuring that Rutherford remains a place that every resident is proud to call home.
