Biography
Judge Jason Cox serves as a probate and mental health court judge in Harris County, where he presides over some of the most complex and sensitive cases involving guardianships, estates, and involuntary mental health commitments. He is also an adjunct professor of law, helping shape the next generation of legal minds with a focus on ethics, equity, and public service. A childhood and adult cancer survivor, Judge Cox brings deep personal resilience to his work on the bench. He has been recognized with service awards from both the Houston Bar Association and the Houston GLBTQ+ Political Caucus for his commitment to justice and advocacy within underserved communities. As one of Texas’s few openly LGBTQ+ judges, he continues to be a visible leader and voice for inclusion within the legal system and beyond.
