Jeff Coughlin

Jeff Coughlin has worked on some of our nation’s biggest and most ambitious projects. He’s an astrophysicist and certified project manager with a distinguished career in astronomy and space science, including working for NASA and the SETI Institute. As a Director for the revolutionary Kepler mission, Jeff played a pivotal role in the discovery of thousands of planets around other stars, transforming our understanding of life in the universe and humanity’s place within it. Not losing sight of the past while pursuing the future, Jeff volunteers as director of the Kitsap History Museum, whose mission is to “Connect Our Community with Each Story.” Since being elected in 2021, Jeff has served on the Council, addressing the city’s most pressing issues and advocating for public safety, accessible and safe streets, attainable housing, a vibrant local economy, and a transparent and efficient government. His belief is that local government is where you can make and see an immediate positive impact in your neighbors’ lives. Now he is running for Mayor, bringing his belief that strong local government begins with collaboration and coalition building. Throughout his journey, Jeff has been supported by his incredible husband, Nick, a long-time shipyard worker, and their 4- year-old son, whose boundless curiosity and joy inspire him every day. Together, they are dedicated to building a vibrant and thriving future for all in Bremerton.
