Biography
JoCasta Zamarripa is a recognized trailblazer and dedicated public servant running to be Wisconsin’s next Secretary of State. Born and raised on Milwaukee’s Near South Side to a single teen mom in working class and immigrant neighborhoods, JoCasta made history as the first Latina and first openly bisexual person elected to both the Wisconsin State Legislature and the Milwaukee Common Council. Having served five terms in the Assembly and currently serving as an Alderperson, she brings a proven track record of coalition-building and delivering tangible results for working families on critical issues like affordable housing and anti-discrimination policies. JoCasta is running to use the Secretary of State’s platform as a powerful voice to fight for LGBTQ+ equality, fully fund public schools, and secure economic stability for every Wisconsinite.
