Biography
John Fredrickson is a father, husband, mental health provider, and State Senator representing District 20 in the Nebraska Legislature. He is the first openly gay man ever elected to the Nebraska Legislature. He currently serves on the Transportation & Telecommunications Committee, the Executive Board, the Committee on Committees, and as the Vice Chair of the Health & Human Services Committee. His legislative priorities have included mental health policy, education, food security, and workforce development, and he has successfully passed bipartisan legislation in each of these areas. Outside of his work in the legislature, Senator Fredrickson serves on the Board of One World Community Health Center and as an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University. Prior to his public service, Senator Fredrickson worked as a Clinical Social Worker in Private Practice. He lives with his husband and son in Omaha, Nebraska.
