John Newhall is a scholar, volunteer, activist, and community organizer running to represent Ward 2 on the Salem City Council. Having worked on national initiatives to promote equity and inclusion, John is committed to fostering diverse and inclusive communities in Salem and beyond. This reinforces John’s dedication to ensuring that all voices are heard and valued. John’s campaign is centered on key issues that directly impact the quality of life in Salem. John is particularly passionate about improving public transportation in and around our city, creating climate resiliency, decreasing traffic congestion, promoting a pedestrian-friendly community, and ensuring Salem is and remains affordable for all residents. John envisions creating a more accessible, sustainable, and thriving Salem.
