Biography
Jonathan West is a lifelong Manchester, Vermont resident, born and raised in the community he now calls home with his husband and their four children. Raised in a working-class family and educated in Vermont’s public schools, Jonathan believes deeply in public service rooted in lived experience, running to represent the same community that raised him. Jonathan has served one two-year term on the Manchester Selectboard and is currently seeking reelection. He also serves as Chair of the Manchester Housing Task Force, where he works to expand affordable and workforce housing through regional collaboration, data-driven planning, and sustainable growth strategies. At the state and county levels, Jonathan is Secretary of the Vermont Democratic Party and Chair of the Bennington County Democrats, helping strengthen democratic participation and grassroots organizing. With over two decades of experience in technology and development management, Jonathan brings a systems-focused, results-oriented approach to governance, emphasizing accountability, efficiency, and long-term impact. A father of four and advocate for foster care, adoption, and LGBTQ+ families, Jonathan is committed to building communities where families can afford to live, work, and thrive for generations to come.
