Biography

Texas House Minority Whip, Venton Jones is seeking his third term in the Texas House of Representative serving District 100 in Dallas, Texas. As a native of House District 100, Representative Jones is committed to advancing equity and justice through two decades of experience leading organizations, impacting public policy, and organizing diverse communities.

Representative Jones serves as Texas House Minority Whip and was appointed by the Speaker of the Texas House to serve as Vice Chair of the House Committee on Corrections and on the coveted Appropriations Committee, serving on the Article II Subcommittee that appropriates funding for the state’s Health and Human Services. In addition to his committee appointments, he serves as Vice Chair of the Texas House LGBTQ Caucus and Parliamentarian of the Texas Legislative Black Caucus.

In his inaugural term during the 88th Legislative Session, his leadership was honored by his colleagues, who named him “Freshman of the Year” of the Texas House LGBTQ Caucus.
