Biography

Rep. Josh Boschee was first elected to the North Dakota House of Representatives in 2012 with the distinction of being the first openly gay person elected to the state legislature. For several sessions, he worked with a coalition of stakeholders to try and pass a fully inclusive, statewide nondiscrimination statute. During the 2021 legislative session, he helped fight anti-trans youth sports legislation that was eventually vetoed by Governor Doug Burgum, with his veto sustained by the state Senate.

Rep. Boschee was elected by his caucus to serve as the House Minority Leader during the 2019 and 2021 legislative sessions where he worked his counterpart in the Senate, Majority Leaders of both chambers and the Governor to address the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in the state.

When not serving in the legislature, which meets once every two years, Rep. Boschee is a licensed real estate broker for Real Broker, LLC in North Dakota and serves on numerous community and regional boards and committees.
