Kathryn Ciesla

Kathryn has a long history of civic engagement and has served as Northbrook’s Village President since 2021, following three terms as a Village Trustee. She played a key role in developing the Village’s Sustainability Plan, an award-winning Affordable Housing Plan, and major economic initiatives, including the recruitment of an electric car dealership and the redevelopment of a regional luxury mall with new multi-family residential use.

A dedicated attorney for over two decades, she concentrates her practice in child advocacy and family law, and writes and speaks on LGBTQ+ issues in the family court system. She has spent the last several years advocating for trans youth. Recognized as a “Super Lawyer” for nine consecutive years, she is committed to ensuring children’s voices are heard in the courtroom. Beyond her legal and civic roles, she is passionate about supporting families and youth through community service.
