Biography

Kevin Morrison is a proud local citizen running for Cook County Commissioner in the 15th District. He is an experienced organizer as well as an engaged and passionate activist. He has dedicated years of his life to supporting candidates who fight for our values, and issues that are important to our community. With Cook County at a crossroads, he has decided to run for Commissioner to ensure we have a strong voice representing the 15th District.

Community has always been important to Kevin. That is why since graduating from high school, he has consistently remained active and engaged in local and national politics. Kevin has worked on countless campaigns, which included two years organizing for the Hillary Clinton campaign. Passionate about the environment, he has volunteered for the Sierra Club and Illinois Coalition for a Moratorium on Hydraulic Fracturing. Last year when the administration attacked our transgender family, he organized a rally in Chicago’s North Halsted neighborhood, which brought out several hundred people on a cold frigid day here in Chicago.

Kevin was working for Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi when he decided to run. After seeing the incredible candidates running against incumbent Republicans in DuPage County and hearing all of the frustrations of Cook County residents in his district, he knew he had to stand up! Running against the Chair of Illinois’ Republican Party, Kevin would become the first openly LGBT and youngest Commissioner ever elected.
