Biography
LaWana Mayfield is an at-large representative on the Charlotte City Council. She has a strong background in community organizing and has been involved in various civic engagements, including serving on the board of the NASCAR Hall of Fame and the Centralina Economic Development Commission.
Mayfield was first elected to the council in 2011 and has been a significant figure in local politics. She is notable for being the second African American woman and the first openly LGBTQ+ elected official in the City of Charlotte. Her key priorities include economic growth, community safety, and stabilizing property values.
