Markus Ceniceros

Markus Ceniceros is Arizona’s youngest openly LGBTQ+ elected official and a member of the Littleton Elementary School District Governing Board. Elected in 2022 at just 18 years old while still a high school senior, Markus has brought a bold, student-first perspective to local leadership. Since taking office, Markus has delivered on the promises he made to the community—leading the effort to remove costly school uniforms, championing clean energy policies that resulted in district-wide solar, and launching participatory budgeting to give students a real voice in how classroom dollars are spent. He also helped secure the recognition of Pride Month in the district for the first time in its history. Markus is committed to ensuring schools are safe, inclusive, and forward-looking. In his next term, he is focused on modernizing school facilities, strengthening academic outcomes, supporting educators with the resources and fair compensation they deserve, and advancing policies that put students and families first. A proud Gen Z leader, Markus believes representation matters and that young people deserve a seat at the table when decisions are made about their future.
