Biography

Monica VanBuskirk is proud LGBTQ+ mom, small business owner, and policy expert running to represent Colorado House District 9. Born in Belize, and raised by a nurse and carpenter in the agricultural migrant stream, she brings extensive public service experience including implementing the Affordable Care Act as a federal and state employee, and drafting and implementing state laws as Chief Policy Officer at Connect for Health Colorado. She founded an analytics firm, Meapta Inc., and created Campster.kids to help
families access summer camps. A Smith College and Duke MBA graduate, Monica has successfully championed healthcare affordability legislation that created hundreds of millions of dollars in subsidies for Coloradans. She lives in Denver with her partner, children, animals and an amateur vegetable garden where they enjoy supporting their community and watching women’s rugby as often as possible.
