Biography
Precious Brady-Davis is an award-winning advocate, communications strategist, author, and public servant dedicated to advancing equity and environmental justice. She serves as Chief Strategy Officer at Center on Halsted, the Midwest’s largest LGBTQ+ community center, where she leads organizational strategy, partnerships, and initiatives that drive measurable community impact. A trailblazer in American politics, Precious is the first openly Black transgender woman elected to public office in Cook County, serving as a Commissioner at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. Elected by more than one million voters, she champions clean water access, environmental protection, and the health of Lake Michigan, the drinking water source for over five million people. Her career spans leadership roles in nonprofit, higher education, and national advocacy organizations, including the Sierra Club, where she advanced renewable energy and environmental justice campaigns. Precious began her work in community service supporting LGBTQ+ youth through a CDC-funded initiative reaching thousands of young people with prevention and leadership programming. With over a decade of experience at the intersection of racial, gender, and environmental justice, Precious is a sought-after speaker who has collaborated with national leaders and organizations across sectors. She lives in Chicago with her husband and two daughters.
