Biography
Bri is a first-generation college graduate, renter, educational administrator, trans masculine Latino, whose grandparents’ family migrated from Mexico. Bri received his Doctor of Philosophy in 2024, is a registered Democrat and member of the Working Families Party, and has overseen LGBTQ centers at colleges and universities for over 12 years. He believes the ancestors brought him to serve as an educator and now, as a public servant. He was born in West Covina to a low-income, Veteran, Latino family that includes family members of zoot suiters, activists, organizers with the Brown Berets, and community activists. Bri has advocated for protection and resources from the city of Covina for support due to ICE raids in LA County in 2025, with minimal movement and LGBTQ affirmative support since 2020. His lived experiences have informed his belief that everyone should be able to exist unapologetically and access resources for all basic needs. All people should have a livable income without choosing between food and paying bills, have an accessible & transparent city government, and feel safe to exist authentically without fear of deportation or retaliation. People come first before corporations.
