Biography
Judge Jerry Simoneaux has served Harris County Probate Court No. 1 since January 2019, consistently ranking in the top 1% of all Harris County elected judges and achieving a remarkable 128% case clearance rate—among the very best in Texas.
A champion for LGBTQ+ equality, Judge Simoneaux has implemented groundbreaking inclusive reforms: collaborating with the County Clerk to remove sexist language from legal forms, establishing non-gender- specific dress codes, and enhancing court accommodations for LGBTQ+ individuals and families. His court staff receive ongoing LGBTQ+ awareness training and implicit bias training to ensure respectful service for all community members, reflecting his commitment that every person receives equal treatment regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or family structure.
The State Bar of Texas has honored Judge Simoneaux with multiple prestigious awards, including the Judge Norman Black Award for social justice and the Judge Merrill Hartman Pro Bono Award. Before taking the bench, he practiced law for nearly two decades, specializing in probate litigation and appeals.
