Biography

Tal Khan Valbuena is a Deputy District Attorney, professor, and Los Angeles County Commissioner with a career rooted in public service and access to justice. He immigrated to the United States at 18, working his way from service jobs to becoming an attorney, an experience that shaped his commitment to fairness, dignity, and equal treatment under the law.

In his legal practice, Tal has focused on complex issues at the intersection of mental health, substance use, and the criminal legal system, handling cases involving constitutional law, expert testimony, and trial litigation.

His work reflects both legal rigor and a deep understanding of the human realities behind the cases.
Beyond the courtroom, Tal teaches law to students from diverse backgrounds, including non-native English speakers, helping make the legal system more accessible.

He also serves as a Los Angeles County Commissioner, advising on policies that impact marginalized communities and working to bridge gaps between the public and government institutions.

Tal is running for Superior Court Judge to bring a fair, firm, and humane approach to the bench, grounded in both professional experience and lived perspective.
