Upthegrove is the only Democratic candidate on the November ballot for Washington State Commissioner of Public Lands
WASHINGTON – In results certified Wednesday, LGBTQ+ Victory Fund candidate Dave Upthegrove advanced from the August 6 primary election for Public Lands Commissioner in Washington state. With a general election victory in November, Upthegrove will become the first out LGBTQ+ statewide executive official in Washington state history.
Annise Parker, President and CEO of LGBTQ+ Victory Fund, issued the following statement on Upthegrove’s victory:
“Dave won the trust of voters across Washington because he’s devoted decades of his life to public service in King County and around the state. His primary victory is a testament to the tenacity and professionalism voters have come to expect from Dave. I look forward to helping Dave secure a win in November and get to work championing the environment as lands commissioner.”
Upthegrove is a former state legislator and currently represents District 5 on the King County Council.
