Jenny Durkan, the Seattle mayoral candidate who would be the city’s first openly lesbian mayor, is currently polling second place in a very crowded field, according to a new survey.
Voting begins in just three weeks. The primary is non-partisan, so the top two vote-getters will face off in the Nov. 7 general election. Jenny is well-positioned to make it to the general given the new poll numbers, however four in 10 voters remain undecided in a race with 21 candidates.
Jenny became the first openly lesbian U.S. Attorney in history when President Barack Obama appointed her in 2009. She would be one of only two openly lesbian mayors of major cities if elected. She has collected endorsements from various business groups and local and state politicians, including former Washington governor Christine Gregoire.
Jenny is in on the verge of making history in Seattle, and if we work together, we can make sure her message reaches those undecided voters before the primary. Learn more about Jenny here.
